How to Measure for a Collar

Wrap a soft tape around the middle of your pet’s neck.

Keep the tape snug without pulling it tight.

Note the measurement where the tape meets.

Fit tip

Measure snugly, then add 2 inches for comfort. You should be able to slide two fingers beneath the collar. Cats typically need smaller sizes, usually XS–S.

How to Measure for a Harness

Place the tape around the deepest part of your pet’s chest.

Keep the tape level, just behind the front legs.

Record the measurement without compressing the fur. Cat harnesses measure chest girth the same way.

Fit tip

Allow a little room for movement. Check the fit again after adjusting every strap for an even, secure feel—especially for a cat’s more delicate build.

Yes. Collars are measured around the neck, while harnesses may require measurements around the chest and neck. Always follow the product-specific size guide for the best fit.

How should a collar fit as my puppy or kitten grows?

You should be able to slide two fingers between the collar and your pet’s neck, with no slipping over the head. Check growing puppies and kittens regularly and adjust or replace the collar as needed.
